Okotoks Dawgs Rookie of the Year Jarrett Burney signs for the 2026 Season
The London Majors are excited to announce the signing of infielder Jarrett Burney for the 2026 Canadian Baseball League season.
Burney, 24, arrives in London following an outstanding collegiate career at Reinhardt University, where he played alongside current Majors outfielder Tucker Zdunich. The Suwanee, GA native was a dynamic offensive force in his senior year, hitting .367 with nine home runs, 54 RBI, 23 stolen bases, and a .436 on-base percentage, striking out just 22 times in 297 plate appearances. Across four collegiate seasons, the 6-foot, 175 lb. right-handed hitter posted a career slash line of .345 / .428 / .906, showcasing elite bat-to-ball ability and on-base skills.
Burney also made an immediate impact in the Western Canadian Baseball League, spending the 2024 season with the Okotoks Dawgs. He led the WCBL champions with a .441 batting average, ranked second on the team with 13 steals in 35 games, and was named the Okotoks Dawgs Rookie of the Year.
Most recently, Burney continued to impress during the California Winter League, hitting .420 (21-for-50) over 15 games. He collected five doubles, a triple, 11 RBI, six stolen bases, and scored 15 runs, walking five times against only four strikeouts.
"Jarrett is a player who can move around the infield and impact the game in a lot of ways,” said Majors field manager Roop Chanderdat. “He brings plus speed and excellent bat-to-ball skills. He’s got a proven track record and can really handle the bat — he can hit-and-run, he can bunt, and he gives you a professional at-bat every single time. He puts the ball in play, and that’s exactly the type of player we want in our lineup this season.”
The Majors are thrilled to welcome Jarrett Burney to London and look forward to his contributions in 2026.
