The London Majors came up big at the right time Friday night to defeat the Hamilton Cardinals 6-5 in 10 innings at Bernie Arbour Stadium,
London starter Travis Keys pitched seven strong innings and left the game with his team trailing 3-2. The score remained that way until the top of the ninth when with two outs Charlie Bowman singled and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. From there Bowman was driven home by a Gibson Krzeminski single, tying the score at 3-3. After Hamilton failed to break the tie in the bottom of the ninth the game went to extra innings.
London scored three times in the top of the 10th inning starting with Kaiden Cardoso being placed on second base as the automatic extra inning runner. Cardoso was brought in by a Eduardo De Oleo single. De Oleo later scored along with Champ Garner on a Noah Williams double.
Hamilton launched a comeback in the bottom of the 10th inning scoring a pair of runs, but Victor Payano struck out Tanner Rempel with the tying run aboard to preserve the 6-5 victory and earn himself his third win of the season.
Eduardo De Oleo had the hot bat for the Majors with a double. three singles, two runs scored and a RBI. Charlie Bowman had three hits, Noah Willinas and Gibson Krzeminski had two hits each while Ty Mosher, Tristan Osika and Champ Garner rounded out the 14-hit London attack with one hit each.
For London this was the first game of a three-game weekend. They will travel to Welland on Saturday evening to face the first-place Welland Jackfish, and then round out the weekend on Civic Holiday Monday when the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers visit Labatt Park for a 6:05 first pitch.
