Majors Win in 24 Hours Rain Delayed Game

With a 24-hour rain delay over the Majors were back on home soil taking on the Kitchener Panthers who were making their season debut on Saturday night due to Covid restrictions for the city of Kitchener.

Pedro De Los Santos took the ball in his second outing of the season and continued his successful start. Working through a total of 8 innings, the only trouble De Los Santos would get into would be a bases load situation in the top of the 6th inning where he would load the bases. Getting out of the situation with a fielder's choice play at home plate and a strikeout swinging before an inning-ending groundout. Pedro would strike out 7 while only allowing 4 hits in his 8 innings of work. Mike DeLong would come in for the 9th inning recording the save and getting 2 strikeouts.

The offence was silenced again till the bottom of the 5th inning when center fielder Adam Filmon would single to right and bring home Hayden Jaco from second. The offence would continue as Evan Britt would drive in Byron Reichstein on a single to third base followed by a fly ball scoring Cleveland by Jaco. The big blast though would come from Brownlee in the bottom of the 8th inning where he would take the Jacob Douglas pitch over the left-field wall and into the trees, scoring Byron on what would be Cleveland’s 2nd home run of the season.

The Majors next game is Sunday in Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs at Christie Pits. The next home game for the Majors comes next Friday as they take on the Welland Jackfish at 7:35, then Saturday vs the same Kitchener Panthers and a doubleheader vs the Barrie Baycats as part of the makeup game from July 11th. Tickets to all Majors home games can be purchased on the Majors website.
