Majors win Canada Day matchup

A tradition like no other, the Majors looked to celebrate Canada Day vs the Hamilton Cardinals. Things started slow but the Majors were able to continue their winning ways with a late-inning rally for a 5-4 victory.

Early on the Majors fell behind 4-0 before Starling Joseph shot a ball that looked like it was never going to come down to bring the Majors within 2. Drew Lawrence and Myles Miller combined for 2 runs on singles and an error. Edison Gonzalez who rejoined the Majors earlier in the day, would have a much better outing than his first few outings as he went 7 innings while striking out 8 with only 9 hits.

Tommy Reyes-Cruz hit a bloop single to the right field scoring Starling Joseph who moved to third base on a wild pitch to give the Majors the lead. Jaryd Lund came in for the top of the 8th inning and only allowed 1 hit through his 2 innings of work. Lund would record the final 6 outs helping the Majors get their 2nd win in a row.

The team looks to continue their winning ways as they travel to Toronto for an afternoon matchup vs the Maple Leafs before taking on the Panthers next Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.majorsstore.com

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world. The league was established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
