Majors take down Jackfish in first of home and home

The London Majors picked up their ninth victory of the 2026 Canadian Baseball League season with a 6-5 win over the Welland Jackfish at Labatt Memorial Park on Friday night. 


Victory Payano got the win, holding the Jackfish to only four runs despite giving up 12 hits in his six innings on the mound. Miguel Cirino pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Payano before handing the ball over to Skylar Janisse, who earned his fourth save of the season. 


The Majors took a three-run lead in the bottom of the first inning before Welland came back in the top of the second inning with three runs of their own. The Jackfish took a 4-3 lead in the top of the third inning.  London quickly reclaimed the lead at 5-4 on an RBI triple by Trent Linehan and an RBI single from catcher Eduardo De Oleo. 

Maikol Escotto's solo home run in the seventh inning made the score 6-4 after seven innings.  Welland scored a single run in the top of the ninth inning to make the final score 6-5. 


Eduardo De Oleo led London's 13-hit attack with three singles and two RBI. Maikol Escotto, Trent Linehan, Tucker Zdunich, and Jaden Babiuk had two hits each, while Jarrett Burney and Ryder Hancock had singles  


Next action for the London Majors is a rematch with the Jackfish at Welland Stadium Saturday evening at 6:05 PM. London's three-game weekend will wrap up Sunday afternoon at Bernie Arbour Stadium in Hamilton, taking on the Hamilton Cardinals. First pitch is 4:05 PM.
