Majors Sweep Season Series of Baycats

For baseball fans who enjoy high-scoring games, Athletic Kulture Stadium in Barrie was the place to be on Saturday as the London Majors finished off a sweep of their six-game season series with the Barrie Baycats, compliments of a 12-9 victory. 

Scoring was plentiful as runs were scored in every inning except the ninth inning, where London reliever Caleb Cassie shut down the Baycats in order to earn his first save of the 2026 Canadian Baseball League season. 

Left-hander Travis Keys earned his seventh win of the season with six gritty innings, keeping the Majors ahead throughout the game. Keys allowed six earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts before handing the ball over to Dustin Davidson, who pitched the seventh and eighth innings, before Caleb Cassie closed out the ninth, giving the London Majors their 29th win of the season by the score of 12-9 and tightening their grip on first place in the CBL standings.

The Majors chalked up their 12 runs on a total of 15 hits. Starling Joseph had three hits, including a double and two RBI. Five players had two hits each. Cristian Inoa had two hits, including his fourth-inning three-run home run. Trent Linehan had a single, a double, a walk, and three RBI, while Jarrett Burney had a single and a triple with two RBI and a stolen base. Tucker Zdunich added two singles and one RBI. Xavier Whittle contributed two singles and one RBI. Jordan Lewis and Maikol Escotto both had a single and a walk. 

The London Majors will visit Hamilton's Bernie Arbour Stadium  Sunday afternoon to take on the Hamilton Cardinals, with first pitch at 4:05 PM.
