The London Majors never led until a six-run rally in the top of the ninth inning gave them a 14-9 win over the Barrie Baycats Sunday evening in Barrie.
That ninth-inning rally started with four consecutive singles by Byron Reichstein, Victor Plaz, Tristan Osika and Brad Verhoeven followed later in the inning by singles from Gibson Krzeminski, Starling Joseph and Eduardo De Oleo. London's 14-run, 20-hit attack was led by Victor Plaz who went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Eduardo De Oleo, 2-for-5 and Byron Reichstein, 3-for-4 also homered.
Christian Coombes, a graduate of St. Thomas Cardinals Minor Baseball and the Great Lake Canadians, made his first-ever IBL start by going 3 2/3 innings and allowing four runs on only two Baycats’ hits. Braeden Ferrington struck out two in a scoreless eighth inning to record the win, his first of the season. Skylar Janisse finished up the ninth inning keeping the score at 14-9 London.
The next action for the 7-3 London Majors is Friday, June 14th at Labatt Park versus the Toronto Maple Leafs
