Majors sign veteran relief pitcher Erasmo Pinales
The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of veteran right-handed reliever Erasmo Pinales (eh-RAHS-Moh Pin-YA-less)) for the 2026 Canadian Baseball League season.
Pinales, 31, brings 11 seasons of professional baseball experience to London, having pitched in affiliated baseball, independent leagues, and internationally. The La Vega, Dominican Republic native was originally signed as an international free agent by the Houston Astros organization in 2013 and reached Double-A twice during his career, topping out at the AA level.
Over his professional career, Pinales has compiled a 14–12 record with a 3.31 ERA across 120 appearances (23 starts), striking out 300 batters in 277 innings with a 9.7 K/9 and 3.9 BB/9. During his time in the Astros system, he spent time alongside catcher Eduardo De Oleo, gaining valuable experience at the upper levels of affiliated baseball.
Most recently, Pinales spent the last three seasons with the Ottawa Titans of the Frontier League, establishing himself as one of the league’s most reliable late-inning arms. In 2024, he finished second in the Frontier League in saves (23), earned All-Star honors, and posted a 2–4 record with a 2.84 ERA, maintaining a 9.7 K/9 strikeout rate.
Pinales first made his mark in Ottawa during the 2023 season, bursting onto the scene with a dominant 1.50 ERA in 35 appearances, striking out 39 batters in 36 innings.
After his time with Houston, Pinales later signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, though the season was ultimately cancelled due to the pandemic.
“We’re extremely excited to add a late-inning reliever with closing experience to our pitching staff,” said Majors Field Manager Roop Chanderdat. “Erasmo will complement Skyler Janisse perfectly and can be a great seventh- or eighth-inning setup man for us. He’s a four-pitch guy with a lot of experience and a strong desire to win. He mixes a low-90s fastball with a plus sinker and solid off-speed stuff. From everything we’ve heard, Erasmo is a fierce competitor who cares deeply about his team and his teammates. He brings a presence on the mound that we really need.”
With his proven track record, swing-and-miss stuff, and late-game experience, Pinales adds significant depth and reliability to the Majors’ bullpen as the club looks ahead to the 2026 campaign.
