The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of pitcher Christian Coombes, a local arm who played for the junior St. Thomas Tomcats last year and recently completed his senior season at Division I Rider University.

The 22-year-old’s signing gives the Majors another left-handed arm in their pitching staff, and one who has spent time both in the bullpen and as a starter in college.

Coombes began his collegiate career in the COVID-shortened 2020 season at St. Peter’s University in the MAAC Conference. After three seasons pitching almost exclusively in relief, the lefty made 10 starts for the Peacocks during the 2023 season. This year, he moved on to play for Rider University, where he made 19 appearances out of the bullpen.

“Christian is another local player that will help our team,” said Roop Chanderdat, the Majors’ GM and field manager. “He has Division I college experience, and he’ll give our pitching staff some added depth.”

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Coombes, who attended Parkside Collegiate Institute before his collegiate days, is looking forward to playing ball back home.

“I’m really excited to join the team that I’ve been coming to watch since I was a little kid,” he said. “It will be awesome to play for the hometown crowd and help give us a chance to win a championship.”
