Majors sign former Diamondback prospect

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of left-handed pitcher Anfernee Benitez Torres.

Originally from Aguadulce, Panama, the pitcher spent the first part of his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks before signing with the LA Angels where he racked up 404 strikeouts in 416.1 innings and an ERA of 4.84. For the past winter, Benitez has spent his time with the Toros de Sincelejo of the Columbian Winter League where he had 20 strikeouts over 18.1 innings.

When asked about joining the Majors, Anfernee who is known as Benny by his former teammates was excited to join the team “After seeing videos and photos of Labatt Park during the last two championship seasons, I am excited to work towards another for the city”

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world. The league was established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
