Former AAA Catcher Signs With Majors

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of Dominican catcher Eduardo de Oleo.

Originally signed as an international free agent by the New York Yankees in 2010, De Oleo spent 5 seasons with the Bronx Bombers organization getting up to A ball before moving over to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. In his single season with the Diamondbacks Eduardo played in three different levels, finishing the season with the Mobile BayBears of the AA level. From there the now 30-year-old would get to AAA in 2017 and 2018 with the Houston Astros organization.

Over his minor league career, de Oleo put up 31 home runs, and 153 RBIs, with an average of .241 in his 8 minor league seasons. Defensively, runners were thrown out 36% of the time throughout his 2407 innings with a .982 fielding percentage. Most recently Eduardo has played with the Gigantes of the Dominican Winter League where his teammates have been major leaguers like Eloy Jimenez (Chicago White Sox), Wander Franco (Tamp Bay Rays), and Greg Bird (New York Yankees).

When asked about the former AAA catcher joining a Majors team looking for their third straight championship, Manager Roop Chanderdat was excited about the talent De Oleo brings to the roster “De Oleo has a proven track record with professional experience which is critical for our club and pitching staff. We needed a catcher that can take charge and be a leader on the field which Eduardo has proven to do over his career. Eduardo is a good hitter that will be a big part of our lineup.
