Majors put up two touchdowns vs Red Sox

By way of a 14-9 victory over the last-place Brantford Red Sox on Sunday afternoon at Labatt Memorial Park, the London Majors have moved into a tie for second place in the Intercounty Baseball League standings with the Barrie Baycats. London and Barrie have identical 21-12 records and trail first-place Welland Jackfish by 2.5 games.

Victor Payano started on the mound for London. He went five innings to post his fifth win of the 2025 season, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts. Jonathan Henry, Alex Springer, Ricardo Alvarez DeLug,o and Jaryd Lund followed with one inning each in relief of Payano.

The 14 Majors runs came on 13 hits and five Brantford errors. Ty Mosher and Toby Simmons had two hits, including one double and two RBI each. Francisco Fajardo, Kyle Mave,s and Champ Garner each had two hits and two runs scored. Eduardo De Oleo had a three-run home run in the six-run fourth inning rally. That was his 10th big fly of the season. Tucker Zdunich hit a three-run home run of his own in the fifth inning. That was his third four-bagger of the 2025 season. Byron Reichstein added a two-RBI double to round out the 13-hit London attack.

The London Majors have one day off before they travel west on the 401 to Fergie Jenkins Field in Chatham on Tuesday night to meet the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers. The Majors' next home game will be Friday, August 1st, when the Toronto Maple Leafs come to Labatt Memorial Park for the usual 7:35 first pitch.
