Despite battling through 10 innings of baseball, the London Majors were not able to beat the extreme heat or the Barrie Baycats at Athletic Kulture Stadium in Barrie on Saturday afternoon. The Baycats walked off the Majors on Alex Wickett ́s single in the 10th inning that scored Tristan Clarke giving Barrie the 6-5 win. Carlos Sano chalked up his third win of the 2025 season.
London Field Manager Roop Chanderdat said, ̈We couldn’t get a clutch hit in the 9th or 10th innings, despite the fact that All-Star catcher Eduardo De Oleo was a threat every time he came to the plate. ̈
The Major's five runs came on a total of 11 hits. Francisco Fajardo had a double and two singles. Eduardo De Oleo had a home run, a single, two walks, and three RBI. Brad Verhoeven had a double, a single, a walk and one run scored. Tucker Zdunich, Champ Garner, Adrian Harrison, and Josh Niles chipped in with one single each.
̈Travis Keys gave us another good start on the road, but our bullpen couldn’t hold the two-run lead. ̈ Roop Chanderdat said.
Keys went six complete innings on the mound allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out five Baycat hitters. He left the game after six innings with his team leading 5-3.
Nate Bennett, Alex Springer and Ryan Beitel finished the game in relief. Beitel took the loss allowing the game-winning walk-off hit in the 10th inning
Chanderdat had this final overall observation of the tough loss, ̈It was a gutsy game. The entire team battled through the intense heat. I was proud of our effort. ̈
The London Majors, whose record now stands at 14-9 are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they take on the Hamilton Cardinals at Bernie Arbour Stadium for a 2:05 start.
