Majors get important victory over Jackfish

A rare Sunday night matchup at the Forks of the Thames between the top 2 teams in the IBL lived up to its hype. The Majors were victorious 7-5 over the Jackfish.

With Owen Boon on the bump, he would hold the top team in the league to only 9 hits and 2 runs while striking out 8. Braeden Ferrington would be the only other pitcher needed in the contest as he would pitch the final 2 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits including a home run off the top of the fence.

The Majors’ offence exploded in this game with 7 runs. A single by Byron Reichstein and double by Austin Wilkie would score the first two runs of the game. The 6th inning would be the big inning for the Majors. Taylor Wright would have a fielder's choice scoring Jakob Newton while keeping the bases loaded. Austin Wilkie would have the big blow though as with the bases loaded on a full count, driving a ball over the left field wall giving the Majors the lead and not looking back!

The Majors will be back in action on Tuesday night vs the Brantford Red Sox with the makeup game from Monday, August 1st. Tickets from the 1st can be used for this game or purchased online at www.londonmajors.com or at the gate.

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
