The London Majors' three- game winning streak came to an end at Christie Pits in Toronto Sunday afternoon as they lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 7-2.
London scored first on a solo home run by Cristian Inoa in the top of the second inning. Toronto scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead. The game, which took only 2 hours, 26 minutes to play, was broken wide open by a five-run rally in the bottom of the fifth inning. The highlight of that rally was a three-run home run by Toronto third baseman Brando Leroux. The score after five innings was 7-1 Toronto, and it stayed that way until London third baseman David Draayers singled to right field, bringing home Eduardo De Oleo, making the score 7-2 Maple Leafs.
The Majors scored their two runs on a total of eight hits coming from five different players. Catcher Eduardo De Oleo had three hits and scored once. Newcomer Cristian Inoa continues to swing a hot bat with a home run, a single, a walk and a stolen base. David Draayers, Xavier Whittle, and Ryder Hancock had one hit each. Jarrett Burney walked twice and stole a base.
London's starting pitcher Cesilio Pimentel took the loss, giving up seven runs on 11 hits. Pimentel was followed by Miguel Cirino, who tossed two scoreless innings, and Zachary Laird, who struck out the side in the eighth inning.
The London Majors have another three-game weekend starting Friday night when the Welland Jackfish visit Labatt Memorial Park with first pitch at 7:05 PM
