The London Majors scored a run in the top of the ninth inning, but came up short losing 5-4 to the Kitchener Panthers at Jack Couch Park on Thursday night. Despite this being their third straight loss, the Majors find themselves in a tie for second place with the Barrie Baycats who defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 20-2 Thursday night as the IBL season winds down.
Kyles Maves lead the 11 hit London attack with a great 4-5 performance out of the lead off spot in the batting order, Maves had two doubles, a triple, one single and two RBI. Raphael Pelletier had two doubles. Francisco Fajardo had two hits, Byron Reichstein had his fifth double of the season. Champ Garner had a single and an RBI and Eduardo De Oleo had a ninth inning single. London starting pitcher Alex Springer took the loss. He was followed in relief by Ryan Beitel and Jose Arias. The Majors have four games remaining in the season.
The Guelph Royals will be paying a visit to Labatt Memorial Park on Friday night before London goes on the road in Hamilton on Sunday. The final home game will be next Friday versus the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers, but the final game of the season for London will be next Sunday in Barrie which will quite likely have a bearing on the final standings and the playoff matchups.
