The London Majors came out on the short end of a high-scoring contest on Sunday afternoon at Labatt Memorial Park, losing 12-7 to the Guelph Royals.
The Majors exhibited a double-digit hit total on Sunday as they did Saturday in Welland, and the result was the same, with a loss in consecutive games. London scored their seven runs on 13 hits and one Guelph error. Trent Lenihan led the way with three singles. Jarrett Burney, Xavier Whittle, David Draayers, and Eduardo De Oleo had two hits each. Draayer and De Oleo's totals included RBI doubles. Tucker Zdunich and Adam Thuss had one hit each to round out London's 13-hit attack.
London's weekend schedule of four games in four days stretched out their pitching staff as Manager Roop Chanderfat sent five pitchers to the mound on Sunday afternoon. Starting pitcher Alex Springer was followed in relief by Miguel Cirino, Kade Douglas, Zach Laird, and Dustin Davidson. Elvin Liriano was the winning pitcher for Guelph, and Zach Laird took the loss.
The Majors' next game is Tuesday night in Chatham versus the Barnstormers before welcoming the Kitchener Panthers to Labatt Memorial Park on Friday, June 5th. That Friday night contest will be the first of three consecutive weekend games.
