Majors defeat Jackfish in Saturday matchup

With NHL personality Paul Bissonette in attendance, the Majors looked to spoil the Jackfish's last home game of the regular season. On a dominant pitching performance by Pedro De Los Santos and Jordan Schulefand doing everything, it would be an 8-5 victory for the Majors.

Making his first appearance since July 23rd, Pedro De Los Santos would pitch very well against the first-place Jackfish going 6 innings, giving up only 4 runs while striking out 8, tying his season high. With 3 innings remaining, Wilbur Martinez would pitch in relief for the second time for the Majors. Getting the final 9 outs, 4 of them via the punch out, Martinez would allow only 1 run to make sure the Jackfish could not come back in the contest.

Things got started early for the Majors offensively as a single by Brett Graham scored Jordan Schulefand in the 2nd inning for a 1-0 lead. Jordan Schulefand would be the Majors’ leading offensive threat as he went 4-4 with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, 1 walk and 2 stolen bases. Dan Battel who had a great start to the season, once again sees himself getting hot after a mid-season injury was also dominant for the Majors as he had 2 hits and 2 RBIs and a stolen base in the contest. Drew Lawrence also added to the stolen base numbers as he had his 5th of the season. Starling Joseph had a solo RBI while Brett Graham added to his total by walking away with 2 on the evening.

A quick turnaround as the team is back in action Sunday afternoon in Brantford before finishing the regular season on Tuesday vs the Royals.
