Majors complete victory over Barnstormers

The London Majors defeated the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers 6-5 on Sunday at Fergie Jenkins Field in a game that had started two and half weeks ago.

The suspended game from July 16th continued with London batting in the top of the sixth inning and the score tied 3-3 and the bases loaded. Victor Plaz didn't wait long to break the tie as he slapped the first pitch he saw from Nik Cardinal into left field, scoring Eduardo De Oleo and Byron Reichstein to make the score 5-3 London.

Braxton Haggith closed the London lead to one run at 5-4 with his fourth home run of the season to right-center field in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Gibson Krzeminski blasted his second home run of the season to centre field in the top of the ninth to provide the Majors with a little bit of a cushion heading into the bottom of the ninth leading 6-4. The Barnstormers scored an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth, but Jonathan Henry got Mitsuki Fukuda to pop out with the bases loaded to preserve the 6-5 win and earn his third save of 2024.

Victor Payano pitched the first six innings in the July 16th game to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Through the full nine inning contest the London Majors scored six runs on a total of six hits. Cleveland Brownlee had a three-run home run in the second inning. Gibson Krzeminski had a double and a single and one RBI. Starling Joseph, Victor Plaz and Eduardo De Oleo had one hit each.

London ́s record improved to 20-13 good for fourth place in the IBL standings 4 1⁄2 games ahead of the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers whose record after their second loss in a row is 16-20 tied with the Hamilton Cardinals.

The Majors and the Barnstormers will hook up again on Civic Holiday Monday.. First pitch is 6:05 P.M. at Labatt Memorial Park
