Majors complete exhibition weekend sweep

The London Majors are ready for the start of the 2024 IBL season after recording their second preseason exhibition win over the visiting Branford Red Sox on May 5th at beautiful Labatt Park by a score of 5-4.


London scored all five of their runs in the bottom of the 4th inning when they batted through the order.

Byron Reichstein led off the inning and was hit by a pitch. That was followed by a base on balls to Starling Joseph. The next London hitter Cleveland Brownlee dropped a soft single into right field to load the bases. Kaiden Cardoso followed with a double off the left-field wall to score Reichstein and Joseph and moved Brownlee to third base. The next Majors batter was Tommy Reyes-Cruz. His single to shallow left field brought home Brownlee and Cardoso. The final Majors’ run of the inning and the game was scored when switch-hitting Gibson Krzeminiski singled home Champ Garner who had reached base on a fielder’s choice.


In all for the game, London scored five runs on eight hits and one Red Sox error. Kaiden Cardoso led the Majors’ offensive attack with two doubles and two RBI. Charlie Bowman had a double while Gibson Krzeminiski, Eduardo de Oleo, and Byron Reichstein. Tommy Reyes-Cruz, and Cleveland Brownlee all had one base hit each. London pitchers Jose Arias Victor Payano and Jacob Foster each pitched two innings. Braeden Ferrington finished up the final three innings to preserve the 5-4 victory.


London Majors will kick off the IBL season on May 12th on the road against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Christie Pitts.The first home game for the Majors will be  Friday May 17th at Labatt Park when they take on the defending IBL Champion Welland Jackfish.
