Majors Capture walkoff victory

With the rain cooling things off on Thursday, the Majors were looking to continue to turn things around after winning 2 of 3 last weekend. Taking on the Panthers who had also won 2 of their last 3 games but their most recent game was cancelled due to rain. They took every chance they had but the Majors walked it off on a single with one out in the bottom of the 9th inning.

The Majors pitching staff was lights out in this game as Edisson Gonzalez kept the Panthers to no hits allowing one run on 4 strikeouts through his 5 innings of work before turning it over to Alex Springer. Springer who got the save vs the Jackfish last weekend would pitch the final 3 innings in this contest allowing only 3 hits with 3 strikeouts with no runs.

With 12 hits in the game, the Majors could not get multiple hits to go their way till the 6th inning when Josh Williams would slap a single to left field scoring Myles Miller from third base. Things would remain tied till the bottom of the 9th inning, with the bases loaded, Miller would have a single at the first baseman scoring Keith Kandel from third, giving the Majors a walk-off victory and their 3rd win in their last 4.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Majors as they have a home-and-home series vs the Guelph Royals starting Saturday night in Guelph before the team hosts the Royals at 1:05 PM on Sunday. Tickets for the contest and all Majors home games can be purchased online at www.majorsstore.com

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world.
