Majors break open and get first win vs Sox

It may have taken till the 4th game of the season but the Majors are back in the win column as they travelled down to Brantford to take on the Red Sox. Around Midnight the Majors would leave the Arnold Anderson Stadium with a 13-5 win.

Abdiel Velasquez was on the mound for the Majors as he was able to pitch 7 innings in this contest giving up 4 runs. Early in the game it looked like he was going to come out of the game with a minor injury but was able to pitch through it and get his first win of the season. Cam O’Reilly came into the 8th inning, unfortunately, unable to get a clean inning as he had the bases loaded with none out quickly into the inning but was able to get a strikeout while only giving us 1 run.

Originally down 2-0 heading into the middle of the inning, the offensive exploded in the 6th inning with home runs from Eduardo De Oleo to lead off the inning followed by Byron Reichstein with a 3-run home run. Later in the contest, St. Thomas native and Majors’ rookie Brad VerHoven had a pinch-hit single while also recording his first RBI of the season. De Oleo and Kayne McGee continue to lead the Majors this season offensively while Reichstein had a 5 RBI game.

This win kicks off a 3 in 3 for the Majors as tomorrow the team will travel to Barrie to take on the Baycats before returning to Labatt Park on Sunday vs the Red Sox at 1:05 pm. Tickets can be purchased online at Majorsstore.com
