Majors bats comes alive again in victory

After a win by the skin of their teeth on Friday night the Majors were back in action with a rare home Saturday night to take Hamilton Cardinals. A second straight victory for the Majors as they would beat the Cardinals 11-6.

The offence was the story for the Majors in this one as a 7-run 4th inning would be the difference in this one. Both teams would get a single home run in the first inning as Hamilton Cardinals center fielder Justin Gideon and Majors Cleveland Brownlee came into the game tied for the league lead in home runs. Gideon would come out of this game though with the lead. The Majors 4th inning would have 7 runs that were driven in by Jakob Newton who had a double that scored 3, while a single by Starling Joseph would have Cleveland Brownlee and Newton score to give the Majors the comfortable lead. Starling Joseph in the 6th inning would crush a ball into Harris Park for the fans at Rock the Park. The Majors would only strike out 5 in this game which was a great outing from both the offence and pitching.

Pedro De Los Santos would have his game of the year going 7 innings allowing 3 runs with 11 strikeouts. In 3 games in 3 days, it was exactly what manager Roop Chanderdat needed tonight. Bo Lewington would come in for the final 2 innings allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 3 in the outing.

The Majors are on the bus to Toronto tomorrow for a 2 pm matinee against the streaking Maple Leafs before returning to Labatt Park on Friday to take on the Baycats. Tickets are available at www.londonmajors.com

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
