Majors add former D1 infielder
The London Majors are happy to announce the signing of former University of Maryland D1 infielder Taylor Wright.
A senior for the Terrapins in 2019, Taylor started all 58 games hitting for an average of .290 while hitting 20 doubles (4th most in a single season in Maryland Baseball History) while adding an additional 47 hits bringing his season total to 67. Along with his exceptional hitting, Wright had a 86% success rate, swiping 12 of 14 bags in 2019. During his senior season, Wright found himself atop the lineup hitting third in all 58 games.
When asked about joining the Majors after their championship season, Wright was very excited for his time in the pinstripes to begin "I'm excited to get back on the field and compete with the Majors in 2022. I look forward to playing in front of London's great fans and experiencing all the city has to offer."
Roop Chanderdat was asked about the newest Major and what he brings to the team this season “Taylor is a good addition to our team. He is a former D1 player at the University of Maryland that put up big offensive number. Taylor is a versatile infielder that can play multiple spots defensively. I am looking forward to coaching Taylor and helping him continue his development. He is a big left-handed hitter that will add some punch to our line-up.”
The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
