The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of outfielder Jakob Newton.

Newton, 24, just completed a five-year collegiate career at NCAA-D2 Florida Tech University. While playing for the Panthers, the speedy outfielder was batting .274 with a .375 on-base percentage and 43 steals across 184 career games. The Oakville, Ontario, native is also an Ontario Blue Jays alumni, having played for their program until 2017 before starting a successful collegiate baseball career with Flordia Tech University.

“I am excited to add Jacob to our team, Newton has had a great collegiate career in Florida and that should help him transition well to the IBL”  “I am going to try and help Jacob continue his development as a player so he can get to the next level of baseball,” said Roop Chanderdat, Co-Owner, GM and Field Manager.

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
