Majors add catcher Mullen from the A's organization.

The London Majors are proud to announce the signing of catcher Robert Mullen from Panama.

Mullen, 25, spent all six of his minor league seasons in the Oakland A’s organization, where he put up a .251 career batting average and a .338 on-base percentage. In 2019 he hit 11 home runs while playing for the AA Midland RockHounds.  On defence, Mullen posted career numbers of .977 fielding percentage and also threw out 30% of all runners.

The Panama native was asked about coming to the forest city this summer “I am very excited to come to London and help this team win games.  I am looking forward to working with the pitching staff and getting to know each one of them.  London looks like a great City and I look forward to playing at Labatt Park in front of our fans.”

When asked about bringing in an experienced catcher who has been in pro levels of baseball, Roop Chanderdat had this to say “Mullen has pro experience and this will definitely help handle both our incoming and current pitchers on our staff. He has shown over the course of his pro career that he can hit.  Robert will be a good addition to our ball club both defensively and offensively.”

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
