What was supposed to be a matchup between the London Majors and the Welland Jackfish quickly turned into a rematch from June 20th between the Forest City Cobra Chickens and the Jackfish. This time around, the Cobra Chickens weren’t so lucky, falling to the Jackfish 6–1.

Victor Payano got the start, going seven innings and allowing five runs on nine hits before turning the game over to the bullpen. Ryan Beitel and Nate Bennett each pitched an inning of relief, combining to allow just one hit and no runs. The three Cobra Chickens pitchers struck out a total of nine Jackfish on the night.

A combined five hits left the Cobra Chickens with few answers for the Jackfish's pitching. Kyle Maves had two hits in the contest, while Francisco Fajardo, Josh Niles, and Champ Garner each added one. Maves also singled in the third inning to drive in Fajardo, who reached third after stealing two more bases following his single. Fajardo now sits second on the team in stolen bases with 17, just two behind team leader Toby Simmons.

The Majors have a short break before returning to action on Thursday in Kitchener to take on the Panthers, then return home Friday to host the Royals for Grand Slam Night presented by the Grand Theatre. Tickets for all Majors home games can be purchased online at londonmajors.com.
