Cards take Game 1 vs. Majors

HAMILTON – The Hamilton Cardinals opened their series with a 13-3 win over the London Majors Thursday night at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.
Jake Chiaravalle went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, while Jon Dziomba and Connor Bowie each drove in three. Bowie's RBIs came on a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
Chris Beer went 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs, Grant Arnold singled, doubled and drove in two, Jake Foden had an RBI and a run, Laine Renaud drove in a run and scored twice, and Joel Brophy had three hits and three runs.
Chris Lazar (1-0) picked up the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits over eight innings with two walks and five strikeouts.
For London, Michael Ambrose had two hits, an RBI and a run, Evan Britt drove in a run, and Carlos Arteaga had two hits and a run.
Starlin Peralta (0-1) took the loss, giving up eight runs (five earned) on nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
