Boon Returns after all star season

The London Majors are happy to announce the signing of a 6-year London Majors veteran and one of the ace pitchers from 2021, Owen Boon.

A league leader in strikeouts and wins, Boon also had himself a career-best in wins (8), starts (9), innings pitched (58) and strikeouts (66) while also having his second-best ERA at 2.33, only 14 behind teammate and recently resigned Pedro De Los Santos.  A former Western Mustang not only was dominant in the league while on the mound but also was working hard in the classroom working to complete MBA.

When asked about his approach to the 2022 season Boon was quick to acknowledge the task at hand "I am grateful for the opportunity to play for the Majors again this upcoming season. Last season was last season. Our focus is on the task at hand, and that is winning another championship. I am excited to be rejoining the core group of guys that established themselves as the best batch of local players in the league. Roop has been working hard all offseason to recruit the best talent available as always. To the fans, we appreciate all the support you showed us last year and we hope that it continues throughout the upcoming season as we look to defend the championship that brought so much joy and excitement to the city."

Bringing back another local talent that has established himself in the league was one thing Roop Chanderdat was hopeful of this season “Owen Boon is not only one of the best pitchers in the league but he is a tremendous person off the field. He is one of our core group of players that I turn to for leadership. The success that has come his way is a testament to his work ethic. I am looking forward to having Booner back this season”.

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
