Battel joins Majors infield

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of local infielder Daniel Battel.

Battel is a natural second baseman who hit for an average of .280 with 6 RBIs and 13 runs in 15 games this past fall season with the Western Mustangs. Battel finished his Junior career last summer with the St. Thomas Tomcats baseball club. The Tomcats have a long association as a Junior affiliate team with the Majors.

The Majors continue to add local talent to the roster in their search for their third straight championship. When asked about joining the Majors Battel, the 6’1” Londoner was excited about dawning the pinstripes this summer “I’m excited for the opportunity to compete at a high level and make an impact on a winning roster full of talented and motivated guys. The Majors are a historic team in London and it’s an honour to put on the pinstripes and play at Labatt Park.”

Roop was asked about the recent signing, “Dan has a natural fluid swing from the left side.  He is a young player that will add to our infield depth”

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world. The league was established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
