5 Run Second Inning Leads to Majors Win
After what felt like a lifetime between games the Majors were back in action on Friday night vs the 6th place Brantford Red Sox who on paper were the underdogs heading into their first series vs the Kitchener Panthers but swept them to meet the Majors in the Semi-Finals.
With Pedro De Los Santos on the hill, the Majors were looking for vintage Santos but did have a rough start. Pedro would allow 1 run in the 1st inning before throwing 3 scoreless then allowing 4 more runs in his final 7 innings while striking out 6 Red Sox on the evening. One of the most dominant arms for the Majors for Braeden Ferrington would come in closing the game in the 9th only allowing 1 hit.
The big story for the Majors came in the 2nd inning though with a 5 run inning where the Majors would send a total of 11 men to the plate in the inning with Jaco, Kandel and Humberto Ruiz driving in the runs. In the 4th inning on the first pitch of his at-bat, Byron Reichstein would show why he was tied for the team league in home runs with a long drive over the left field wall. Kandel would drive in another run in the 7th inning along with Chris McQueen and Robert Doyle who had a sharp infield single to the shortstop and would leg out the throw beating it up the line.
The Majors are back at it for game 2 and look to win the series in Brantford tonight at 7:30pm. If you are unable to make it down the 403, tune into Brantford’s live stream on youtube.
The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League.
