In a game that saw runs scored in every inning but the ninth inning, the London Majors scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning to edge the Toronto Maple Leafs 16-15 at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.
London used a total of six pitchers who allowed 15 runs on 16 hits. Jose Arias started on the mound for London, followed by Jaryd Lund, Ricardo Alvarez DeLugo, Colby Ring, Jonathan Henry, and Skylar Janisse. Janisse was the winning pitcher, finishing up the ninth and 10th innings to preserve the 16-15 victory. Greg Carrigan took the loss for Toronto by giving up four runs in the 10th inning.
After hitting no home runs in a 7-0 victory Friday night against the Guelph Royals, the London Majors brought their big bats to Christie Pits on Victoria Day weekend. London pounded out seven round-trippers off of seven Maple Leafs hurlers. Byron Reichstein and Kaiden Cardoso had two home runs each, Toby Simmons, Eduardo De Oleo and Champ Garner had one home run each.
The 16-run, 19-hit London attack was led by Champ Garner with four hits, and Francisco Fajardo, Byron Reichtstein and Kaiden Cardoso with three hits each. Adrian Harrison and Eduardo De Oleo had a pair of hits each, while Brad Verhoeven and Toby Simmons had one hit each.
The London Majors are atop the IBL standings with a 3-0 record, a half game ahead of the Welland Jackfish, who are the other undefeated team in this young 2025 Intercounty Baseball League season. London will welcome those same Jackfish to Labatt Park Friday, May 23rd at 7:35 p.m., which will kick off a three-game weekend that finishes up on Saturday afternoon in Barrie and Sunday afternoon in Kitchener.
