Persistence Pays off for the Majors

The London Majors fell behind early, but the persistence they have shown all season paid off, allowing them to come away with an 8-6 victory over the Kitchener Panthers at Jack Couch Park on Sunday afternoon.
London starting pitcher Jose Arias got off to a shaky start, giving up one run in the first inning and four in the second inning, two of which were unearned. Over the next four scoreless innings, Arias allowed only one base runner, that being the result of a London fielding error. His strong recovery gave the Majors a chance to strike back, scoring runs in each of the next five innings to come away with the 8-6 victory.
Jaryd Lund relieved Arias in the seventh and eighth innings, picking up his first win of the 2025 season despite allowing a home run to Yosuke Fujie. Skylar Janisse set the Panthers down in order in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn his second save of the season. The London 15-hit attack was led by Kaiden Cardoso and Brad Verhoeven, who both chipped in with a double and two singles. Toby Simmons, Francisco Fajardo and Ken Sugi had two hits each.
Jack Couch Park often sees home runs leave the park, and today was no exception. The power in the London Majors' attack was provided by a two-run home run by Eduardo De Oleo and solo blasts by Ty Mosher and Adrian Harrison.
After today ́s come-from-behind win, the Majors continue to be on top of the Intercounty Baseball League standings with a 5-0 record. Next action at Labatt Park will be on Tuesday, May 27th, with a makeup game of the May 23rd rainout with the Welland Jackfish. Tickets from Friday's rainout are to be used for this game.
