Majors Sign Veteran Right-Hander Luis Perez for 2026 CBL Season
The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of right-handed pitcher Luis Perez for the upcoming 2026 Canadian Baseball League (CBL) season.
Perez, 30, brings more than a decade of professional baseball experience to the Majors’ pitching staff. The Sabana Grande de Palenque, Dominican Republic native most recently pitched in the Mexican League with El Águila de Veracruz in 2024, continuing a career that has spanned affiliated, independent, and international baseball.
Perez also enjoyed a strong winter campaign in the Colombian Winter League, where he helped Caimanes de Barranquilla capture the league championship. The veteran right-hander earned the win in the decisive Game 5 of the championship series, tossing five innings of two-run baseball against Los Tigres de Cartagena. Perez finished his winter ball season with a 3–0 record and a 4.45 ERA, striking out 24 batters while issuing just nine walks over 32.1 innings across seven starts, showcasing his command and consistency on a championship-calibre staff.
In 2023, Perez was a key member of the Schaumburg Boomers (Frontier League) rotation, posting a 7–5 record with a 4.71 ERA across 17 starts. He struck out 102 batters while issuing just 33 walks in 107 innings, ranking top-20 in the league in innings pitched and ninth in strikeouts, highlighting both his durability and swing-and-miss ability.
Prior to his success in independent ball, the 6-foot, 175-pound right-hander spent six seasons in the Baltimore Orioles organization (2015–2021), reaching Double-A in 2021. Over 318.2 innings, Perez compiled a 3.13 ERA with 298 strikeouts, averaging 8.4 strikeouts per nine innings while maintaining solid command at 3.6 walks per nine.
One of his standout seasons came in 2019, when Perez was named a Carolina League Mid-Season All-Star with the Frederick Keys. That year, he went 6–2 with a 2.93 ERA, striking out 69 batters in 80 innings while contributing in both the rotation and bullpen.
“We’re excited to add another veteran arm to our rotation,” said London Majors Field Manager Roop Chanderdat. “Luis has a track record of keeping the ball in the ballpark and limiting traffic on the bases with his command. He also has strikeout stuff and has had a lot of success in his career because he has four or five pitches he can throw in any count. He’s also a presence on the mound that fans will really enjoy watching.”
With Perez joining the fold, the Majors continue to strengthen their pitching depth as they prepare for the 2026 campaign.
