Majors' offence explodes for 16 runs in victory.

If you are a fan of offence, Friday night at Labatt Park was the place to be. Coming into the contest the Majors had scored 29 runs in 2 games prior to the contest vs the Toronto Maple Leafs. It was no difference in this one as 4 home runs lead to a 16-7 win.

After coming off his first victory on Sunday vs the Kitchener Panthers, Wilbur Martinez would pitch 5.2 innings giving up 3 earned runs surpassing his season total of strikeouts as he had 7 in the contest. Just like Tuesday vs the Royals, the Majors sent someone who you do not expect to see on the mound as Tommy Reyes Cruz would pitch the final 3.1 innings. The Quebec native took advantage of the double-play ball multiple times in his outing while only allowing 3 runs and striking out 2.

Offensively the long ball was the story for the team as a total of 4 home runs were smacked in this contest. Austin Wilkie had a big blast as he had the grand slam in the second inning. Eduardo De Oleo and Cleveland Brownlee added to their season totals while Robert Mackie hit his first career IBL home run. Starling Joseph added 4 RBIs in the contest while also recording 4 hits as well. In total 10 or the 14 Majors who saw plate appearances in the game walked away with at least one hit. Recently the Majors offence has been key to the team recording multiple victories on their weekend schedules.

A rare Saturday night at home is next on the schedule for the team as the Red Sox come to town before finishing the weekend against the Maple Leafs on Sunday. Tickets for all Majors home games can be purchased online at www.Majorsstore.com.

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world. The league was established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
