Majors in tough late against Royals

The London Majors held a 5-2 lead through four innings Friday night at Labatt Memorial Park, but could not hold off the Guelph Royals who came away with a 7-6 victory.


The Intercounty Baseball League standings are tightening up as the 2025 season winds down. Despite losing to Guelph the Majors are still tied for second place with the Barrie Baycats who were beaten by the Brantford Red Sox 15-0 in Brantford. The race for second place got even tighter as the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers moved to within a half game of London and Barrie with their 5-1 victory over the Hamilton Cardinals.


London scored their six runs on nine hits, Guelph though kept the Majors to no extra base hits. Raphael Pelletier and Dre Amaral had two hits each. Kyle Maves, Eduardo De Oleo, Byron Reichstein,Tucker Zdunich, and Toby Simmons had one hit each. Simmons added his 19th stolen base of the season.


Left-hander Travis Keys took the loss giving up all seven Guelph runs in his six innings.

Jonathan Henry, Jose Arias and Skylar Janisse pitched one scoreless inning each in relief of Keys.


The London Majors will have a day off before facing the Hamilton Cardinals Sunday afternoon at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium. First pitch is at 2:00 P.M
