The London Majors are in a third-place tie with the Barrie Baycats in the Intercounty Baseball League standings despite a disappointing 15-2 loss at the hands of the Hamilton Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at Bernie Arbour Stadium.

London had 11 hits in the game. Toby Simmons had three singles, and he drove in the first run. Simmons scored the other London run in the two-run fifth inning rally that made the score 6-2 Hamilton at the time. That score didn't last long as Hamilton put crooked numbers on the scoreboard in innings four through eight to get to the 15-2 final score. Simmons also had two stolen bases in the game, giving him 12 on the season, which is good for a first-place tie in the IBL steals category with Matteo Porcellato of the Welland Jackfish. Brad Verhoeven had two singles in his three at-bats. Dre Amaral had a double and scored the Major's first run. Eduardo De Oleo had a single and an RBI. Tucker Zdunich had a single and a walk. Adrian Harrison had a single and his third stolen base of the season in his only at-bat. Ty Mosher had a single and a base on balls. Francisco Fajardo had a single and a walk to bring the Majors' hit total to 11.

Jose Arias was the losing pitcher on an off day for him. Colby Ring, Jonathan Henry and Jaryd Lund each pitched an inning of relief. Caleb Seroski earned his first win of the season for the Hamilton Cardinals.

The Welland Jackfish sit atop the IBL standings with a record of 16-6 and are 2.5 games ahead of the second-place Chatham-Kent Barnstormers, who did not play on Sunday. London at 14-10 and Barrie at 13-9 are a half game behind the Barnstormers .The London Majors will be back in action to kick off another three-game weekend when the Kitchener Panthers roar into Labatt Memorial Park on Friday night for the usual 7:35 first pitch.
