Majors bring back veteran catcher Eduardo De Oleo for the 2026 season

The Majors have announced the signing of veteran catcher Eduardo De Oleo, who returns to the club for a fourth consecutive season ahead of the 2026 Canadian Baseball League campaign.

De Oleo, 32, has been a fixture behind the plate for the Majors since the 2023 season, establishing himself as one of the league’s most consistent and productive players. In 127 career games with the club, the San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic native has compiled an impressive .313 batting average, along with 30 home runs and 110 RBI.

The right-handed hitter continued his strong play last season, batting .309 with 11 home runs and 31 RBI in 42 games. De Oleo finished the year tied for second in the league in home runs and tied for 11th in RBI, further cementing his reputation as a middle-of-the-order threat and dependable presence on both sides of the ball.

Before arriving in the Canadian Baseball League, De Oleo spent eight seasons in professional baseball, working his way through the minor league systems of the New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Houston Astros, reaching the AAA level in 2017. He is also a former IBL All-Star, bringing a wealth of experience to the Majors’ clubhouse.

“We’re very excited to have Eduardo back as he has cemented himself as one of the top hitters in the league each of the last three seasons,” said Majors Field Manager Roop Chanderdat. “His consistent defence and hitting speak for themselves, but what really stands out is his leadership. Bringing Eddy back is so important because you need to build your team through the middle, and having an all-star catcher is crucial for team success both on and off the field.”

With De Oleo anchoring the catching position once again, the Majors add stability, leadership, and proven production as they prepare for the 2026 season.
