Boon dominates Royals

Owen Boon was back to dominating opponents just like his 2021 season in the Majors' 6-1 victory over the Royals.

In his 2nd start of the season, Boon would go all 9 innings with an incredible 13 strikeouts (3 off his career-high). Included in those 13 strikeouts was a leadoff strikeout of former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey. The one run that the Royals were able to score on their 6 hits was after a fielding error in the first inning, after that the Royals scratch anything after that.

Offensively, Robert Mullen, who was celebrating his 26th birthday on Sunday would go three for four with a big two-run home run in the bottom of the first. Cleveland Brownlee also would have an RBI in the first inning. The Majors would score a single run with Austin Wilkie scoring Taylor Wright in the fourth, Mullen getting his third RBI in the fifth scoring left fielder Phil Whelan while Mullen would also score on a pass ball in the eighth.

The Majors go one and one on the weekend with the Friday game being completed later on in the season, details for that game will be announced when they are finalized. For the first time this season, the Hamilton Cardinals will take on the defending champions on Friday at Labatt Park before London travels to Barrie on Saturday and Brantford on Sunday.

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
