A Tough Afternoon for the Majors at Labatt Park

The London Majors ran into a tremendous pitching performance by former Major and North London Minor Baseball product Owen Boon on Sunday afternoon at Labatt Memorial Park and suffered an 11-0 loss to the Hamilton Cardinals.
Boon pitched eight strong shutout innings, allowing only three hits and a walk while striking out seven.
The closest the Majors came to scoring was in the bottom of the first inning. Maikol Escotto led off with a single but was thrown out attempting to steal second base. Trent Linehan walked, and Cristian Inoa singled with two out, but they were both left on base.
Boon retired the next 13 London batters in order until the bottom of the sixth inning when Maikol Escotto reached first base on a throwing error by Hamilton third baseman Reyny Reyes.
Jarrett Burney singled in the eighth inning.
Cristian Inoa picked up his second hit of the game in the ninth inning off relief pitcher Casey Bouillere-Howard.
Travis Keys was the starting pitcher for the London Majors, and he took the loss. Keys allowed seven earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts, while two errors were made behind him.
Dustin Davidson, Zachary Laird, Miguel Cirino, Caleb Cassie, and Skylar Janisse followed up in relief.
The London Majors will travel to Bernie Arbour Stadium in Hamilton on Tuesday night at 7:35 for a rematch with the Cardinals before returning home to Labatt Memorial Park on Canada Day versus the Barrie Baycats
The Majors now have a 14-6 record and are currently in first place in the Canadian Baseball League standings, a half game ahead of Barrie.
