Speedy Outfielder Returns for Sophomore Season

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of the outfielder Drew Lawrence.

After a hot start in the month of May, the 2003-born, Lawrance hit .550, with 6 RBIs and 11 hits in 4 games leading to being named the leagues Player of the Month. Drew finished the season with 16 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and an average of .269. Once the IBL season was completed, Drew joined the Fanshawe Falcons where he continued his dynamic play as he hit for average and was able to show off his speed. Not only did he finish the IBL season with a championship, but he also finished with a bronze medal in the OCAA championship.

With his rookie season behind him and already a league champion, Drew had this to say about his 2023 season and how he looks to continue to build off his success “I definitely learned a lot throughout the past season, the first-year jitters are out of the way and this year is gonna be scary”

The return of another local player, Roop Chanderdat was excited about the continued development of Lawrence “Drew is a talented local young player with lots of upside. He had a very good rookie season contributing to our championship both at the plate and in the field. I am looking forward to seeing Drew take the next step in his development in the IBL.”

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world. The league was established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
