Speedy McQueen resigns with Majors

The London Majors are happy to announce the signing of local infielder, Chris McQueen

McQueen, who is normally known for his speed on the offensive side of the ball, was a key to the Majors’ championship defence. A top of the lineup player who gave his teammates a very good look at opposing pitchers early in the game as he only struck out 6 times in 26 games, 2 of which came in one game vs the Cardinals. The 28-year-old added options of versatility for Manager Roop Chanderdat, as McQueen was able to play the middle infield along with center field when needed. In fact, McQueen started in CF in the season opener in 2021.

After the championship city and what it means to see multiple guys return this year, Chris was key to point out how hungry the team and fans will be after the victory last season “I’m really looking forward to this season and the competition it will bring following the pandemic. I’m excited to see our team come together for another year of baseball at the best park, in front of the best fans. Teams will be hungry and we will have to defend our title, that’s a challenge I’m looking forward to. Time to get to work.”

Another returning vet that Roop will lean on in the extended season with new players coming in, Roop had this to say about the return “McQueen is one of our core players and a guy I look to for leadership.  He is a player that fully understands his skill set and utilizes his tools to help our team in any way possible.  I have seen the growth in Chris both on and off the field over the years which has been great to see as his Coach.”

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
