Reichstein returns to the Majors

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of the 2021 playoff MVP Byron Reichstein.

After joining the Majors late last year on Canada Day, the St. Thomas native had 12 RBIs in 19 games while hitting .299 and only going hitless in 5 games the regular season. During the 2022 playoffs, Reichstein recaptured his explosive power having 4 home runs and matching his regular season RBI total in 7 fewer games (12 in 19). Byron not only brings the Majors an offensive threat but also a defensive threat as well. In 2022 Reichstein had a fielding percentage of .983 (top 3 on the Majors) while recording 58 putouts over the three positions he played this past season.

Joining the Majors for his 11th season we asked Byron about the outlook on this season and how he looks to build off another championship, “The mindset of winning never stops. This year we are going to keep pushing to do our best and defend the title again for a second year in a row. I am looking to help the team win and be a leader on the field as much as possible.”

When asked about another core player returning to the roster, Roop Chanderdat had this to say “Byron is another one of our core guys and it's good to see him back for another season with the Majors.” After his 2021 playoff MVP-winning season, Roop was excited about the talent the St. Thomas native brings to the team “Byron is a game changer and we have seen this both at the plate and in the field over the years.  One of the all time great players in Majors history and I have been fortunate to coach him his entire IBL career.”

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world. The league was established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
