Majors' Re-Sign top Local Pitcher

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of 7-year IBL veteran pitcher and Londoner Owen Boon.

He joined the Majors history books posting 111 strikeouts in a single season which placed in number 5th all time. Last season Boon had a career year in strikeouts 111, innings pitched 79.1 and 13 appearances, the graduate of Western University will look to continue his dominance as one of the league's top pitchers.

The London native was asked what keeps drawing him back to the mound every outing, whether at Labatt Park or on the road, “ “I love playing the game and staying competitive. Every outing is an opportunity to improve and build on your craft. I enjoy being around a great group all focused on the same goal and committing to the IBL grind. It’s an extremely diverse league with a ton of skill and various playing styles. We’re fortunate to have this opportunity right in our backyard.”

One of the top pitchers for the Majors, manager Roop Chanderdat was excited about Boon resigning “Boon is one of my core guys and a leader on the team. Year in and year out, he is one of the hardest working players and a true professional in the way he goes about his craft”

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world. The league was established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
