Majors get win over Barnstormers

The London Majors bats were quiet yesterday in Guelph, but they came alive in a big way Sunday evening at Labatt Park in their 10-0 victory over the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers.

The Majors 15-hit attack included home runs by Starling Joseph and Byron Reichstein. Victor Plaz had a huge night at the plate going 4-for-5 with 4 RBI. London got on the board early when Eduardo De Oleo and Byron Reichstein singled to lead off the second inning setting up Starling Joseph ́s big three-run bomb that made the score 3-0 London.

The scored stayed that way until the sixth inning when Byron Reichstein drove a ball way over the right-center field fence to lead off the inning. On top of Victor Plaz's four-hit day, Andrew Lawrence, Kaiden Cardoso, Eduardo De Oleo, Byron Reichstein, and Champ Garner had two hits each. Starling Joseph's three-run homer brought the Majors hit total to 15 on the evening.

London starter Victor Payano recorded his first win of the season shutting out the Barnstormers over six innings allowing only six hits while striking out nine batters. Jaryd Lund pitched scoreless seventh and eighth innings and Skylar Janisse pitched a scoreless ninth inning to preserve the shutout. Chatham-Kent starter Eric Pettipiece took the loss.These two teams will meet again for the fourth time this season at Fergie Jenkins Field in Chatham Tuesday night.

Next home action for the London Majors will be Friday June 28th when the Guelph Royals make their first visit to Labatt Park this season. Game time will be 7:35 P.M.
