Saturday night’s Intercounty Baseball League game at Hastings Stadium in Guelph saw great pitching performances from both teams, but the London Majors fell to the Guelph Royals by a score of 1-0
A first
inning double by Kaiden Cardoso and singles from Gibson Krzeminski in the
second and Ty Mosher in the fifth were all the hits that the Majors were able
to manage off Guelph starter and winning pitcher Kyle Thomas in his five
innings of work on the mound. Jacob Kush held London hitless in his four
innings of relief to finish up the game..
London
starter Travis took the loss, but his pitching efforts were nothing short of
spectacular.
Keys faced only 27 batters in the eight innings he
pitched. Two of the three Royals hits he allowed came in a fourth-inning
rally that produced the only run of the ball game.
Brando Leroux led off that fourth inning with a double.
He then moved to third on a sacrifice fly by Ryosuke Ohashi and
eventually scored the winning run on a single from Garrett Takamatsu. A
double from Ohashi in the sixth inning was the only other hit allowed by Travis
Keys.
The London Majors
will be back to Labatt Park on Sunday afternoon to host the Chatham-Kent
Barnstormers. Game time is 4 P.M.
