Kandel returns comes back to defend championship

The London Majors are happy to announce the return of speedy infielder Keith Kandel.

A 7 year veteran of the league, having played in Kitchener, Guelph and Burlington before making London his permanent home. In his 4 years with the Majors, Kandel has become a true leader while also a staple in the lineup. In his 163 games in pinstripes, he has over 150 hits, 81 RBIs and 63 stolen bases.

A true community person, Kandel was excited for the city and his teammates after the championship and reflected that when asked about returning for the 2022 season “With the way the community supports us, and the successes we had as a team last year, it was a no brainer for me to want to be back in pinstripes for another run!

Roop Chanderdat was excited when Keith returned for the 2021 season with a rejuvenated passion “Kandel returned to the Majors last season with a passion and drive that I had not seen since his early years in the IBL. He was determined to take advantage of this opportunity. Keith is one of our core players and a leader in the clubhouse. Looking forward to having him back in our line-up.”

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
