Boon Strikes out 12, Majors Score 11 in Win

With home games slowly coming to an end in the regular season, the Majors took on the Cardinals in another mid-week matchup. In a high-scoring game, it would be the Majors coming out on top 11-5.

As the season closes in on an ending, Owen Boon took to the hill and struck out another 12 batters growing his season total to 98. Boon also continued to see his ERA stay in the top 5 in the league as he went 6 innings, giving up only 3 earned runs while only walking one batter. Last season the Londoner joined the top 5 all-time single strikeout record with 111. Jaryd Lund who recently returned with the rest of his St. Thomas Tomcats pitched the final 3 innings and had 2’s across his stat line, 2 strikeouts, 2 earned runs, 2 walks.

The team quickly took the lead and didn’t look back as Eduardo De Oleo scored Drew Lawrence in the first before 7 runs came in the second inning. Drew Lawrence, Kayne McGee, Byron Reichstein and De Oleo had 2 RBIs each in the contest. Lawrence also added to his stolen base total with his 4th of the season. This is one of the first games that the Majors had double-digit runs where they did not put up a home run in the contest.

Another busy week for the Majors as this is the first game of a 4 game week. Chances to see the Majors at home are running low as only 3 home games are left in the season. This Friday will be the Majors' 2nd annual Home Run for the Hungry. Fans are asked to bring non-perishable items to donate to the London Food Bank. Tickets for all matchups at home can be purchased online at www.majorsstore.com.

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world. The league was established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
