Oklahoma University LHP, Mehdi Djebbar, Signs

December, 2008
Mehdi Djebbar a left handed pitcher (LHP) has signed with the Majors.  Mehdi is 21 years old, 6'1", 195 lbs and is from Montreal Quebec.  Mehdi is currently attending Oklahoma University (OU) on a baseball scholarship. Prior to OU, Djebbar spent 2 years at Seminole State College in Oklahoma.  Mehdi played for Team Quebec and was on the Junior Canadian National team where the team placed 3rd at the World Junior Championships in Cuba.

Djebbar was drafted in the 20th round by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2006 but did not sign.

In his Rookie Season with London last year, Djebbar had 1 win, 1 loss and 2 saves in 6 games.  He had a 5.23 ERA in 20.2 innings during the Regular Season.  During the initial part of the season Mehdi was one of our starters but was moved to the bullpen to fill the closer role.  Djebbar found his niche in the playoffs and had a 2.16 ERA in 16.2 innings.  This included 2 wins 1 loss and 1 save in 10 games.

"Mehdi has great stuff and with a year at OU, I hope he can come back and be one of the anchors on our pitching staff, says Roop Chanderdat, Co-owner, General Manager and Field Manager.  "Djebbar is a tough lefty that can help us both in a starting role and also out of the pen", says Chanderdat.
