Left handed pitcher Craig Bate has signed to play with the Majors for the 2009 season. Bate is 21 years old, 6'4" and 210lbs. Craig is from St. Thomas ON.
Bate is a former Eastern Michigan University (EMU) player. At EMU Bate was selected Freshman of the Year in 2006. In his first 2 career starts at EMU Bate defeated #2 ranked Tennessee Volunteers and #17 ranked Louisville Cardinals.
Last summer Craig pitched for his hometown Junior St. Thomas TomCats and was selected to play in the All Star Game. In 2006 with the Tomcats Bate won a bronze medal at the Junior Nationals.
Bate spend two years on the Ontario youth team and was selected to attend workouts with the Canadian junior national team in 04/05. Craig also attended te world showcase in Fort Myers Florida and Spring Draft showcase in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
